Rising Stars: Ellen Tamaki

25 09 2018

Ellen Tamaki, a New York based actress, is set to star in The CW’s ’fierce, funny, feminist’ reboot of Charmed, the 1990s cult favourite about three sisters who discover they’re witches, airing October 14.

Playing Nico Hamada, a police detective and love interest of one of the sisters, this is Tamaki’s biggest role to date, having previously had minor parts in films The Holdouts, The Drowning, and We Only Know So Much. Tamaki also has roles lined up in the films Inez & Doug & Kira and Searching for Sally Mae later this year, although it’s her upcoming stint as a regular on Charmed, starring opposite Madeleine Mantock, Sarah Jeffery and Melonie Diaz, that’s generated the most hype, with many eagerly anticipating this relative newcomer’s debut in a major series, particularly her involvement in the franchise’s first LGBTQ+ subplot.
